The
Power of A Good Press Release
By Kathleen Gage
One
of the greatest ways to promote your product or service is with
publicity. One of
the most powerful forms of publicity is free publicity. However,
many people have little, if any, understanding of how to go
about securing publicity.
Publicity
can help you gain visibility for anything from a book, a
non-profit organization, an innovative small business, a
community group, an event and so much more. The possibilities of
what you can gain visibility on are merely limited by your
imagination. A great tool for unlocking your imagination is to
join or develop a Master Mind Group. (Read article below – Is
a Master Mind Group for Me?)
One
way to gain exposure is to write and distribute a press release.
A good press release is one of the most effective, and
yet, most underutilized, of publicity tools.
I
have one client who put on an event and submitted one
well-written and well-distributed press releases to the media.
When the release made it in print, they went from having a 50%
booking for their event through some direct mail efforts to
filling up the entire room in less than 48 hours. This was worth
a substantial amount of money to them.
With
one release I submitted to the media for an event I produced
recently, we got over 100 people who signed up for the event
within 24 hours of the release being in print.
Some
keys to success with press releases are:
-
Know
your target market
-
Know
your target media
-
Submit
to the correct person
-
Submit
within the appropriate timeframe in order to meet
publication deadlines
-
Write
an attention-grabbing headline
-
Add
the who, what, when, where, why, how
-
Use
quotes, research and technical date when appropriate
Another
key to success is to have a system is place. Stay organized.
Know how to send the press release to a specific media outlet
and person. Each has their own preference as to how they want to
receive it. It will be to your benefit to find out.
Again,
there are many ways to gain FREE publicity. A good press release
is only one method. To learn more about various ways to gain
massive amounts of free publicity, I would like to personally
invite you to attend a FREE 90 minute presentation on Tuesday

Is
a Master Mind Group for You?
Many
people have heard they should join a Master Mind Group.
There’s only one problem. They don’t know what a Master Mind
Group is or how it needs to function.
A
Master Mind Group is two or more persons (two to six is ideal)
who meet regularly in an atmosphere that encourages achievement
of goals for the purpose of providing mutual support.
A
Master Mind Group is not established so that individual members
can solve each other's problems. Rather, the group is
established to help each participant identify solutions for
their problem areas and challenges.
Master
Mind Group meetings may be conducted in a home, a place of
business, a church, or any other mutually agreed-upon location
that provides a certain amount of quiet and privacy. Meetings
should be limited to the intended purpose. It usually is
sufficient to meet once a week. Depending on people’s
schedules and purpose of group, less frequently or even making
conference calls works well.
Some
Master Mind Groups consists of people located in various
geographic regions. In such cases, the “regular” meetings
are done via conference calls. Quarterly meetings are often
conducted by each member meeting at an agreed upon location.
Each member can take turns hosting the location.
While people usually can accomplish
their goals on their own, the purpose of a Master Mind group is
to obtain the support of a small group of people for your own
goals and “to be able to multiply yourself beyond that.”
The
momentum you create within a Master Mind group can be the
catalyst you need to successfully live your own dreams and
goals.
Traditionally
formed for businesses, Master Mind Groups can also help create
tremendous results for individuals in all walks of life.
Master
Mind Power Tips:
-
Conduct
meetings on a regular basis and schedule. This builds the
consistency that a group needs in order to thrive.
-
Have
a clear group outcome.
-
Have
specific guidelines for what you talk about and who talks
when. There is no right way, but make sure that you all
agree.
-
Make
sure everyone participates equally. Often Master Mind
participants can have very strong personalities. This is not
the time to see who is most dominant. Rather, it is a time
to help each other achieve their goals.

Secretary's Day is celebrated on
April 23rd, 2003 and Secretaries Appreciation Week is the 3rd
week in April. Almost every office has a secretary. Some are
called "receptionists". The special days are set aside
to thank and appreciate all the hard work that secretaries do
for their employers. Many receive flowers and are some are taken
out to lunch.
Administrative Professionals Week
Celebrated Since 1952: "Employers have observed
Administrative Professionals Week, formerly Professional
Secretaries Week, for nearly 50 years as a way to recognize the
contributions of
administrative
staff. The observance began in 1952 as an effort to honor
secretaries and other office staff for their efforts and attract
more people to office and administrative careers." Source: IAAP
In honor of Administrative
Professionals everywhere, I am offering a special price on the
