You
Learn More the Second, Third and Even Fourth Have
you ever watched a movie, enjoyed it so much you watch it a second,
third or even fourth time? Each time you see the movie there is the
possibility of you noticing something different. As a
business advisor and corporate trainer I often see a similar occurrence
with people who learn new information. When they first hear or read
something they pick up some key information. Yet, due to this being the
initial exposure to the information, the human mind is capable of only
part of the information. Of course, there are always exceptions to this
with folks who have photographic mind. Yet, as a general rule, most people
learn more and on a deeper level when they are exposed to information
more than once. Such is
the case with marketing. It seems that many people will read or
something about the need to be consistent in their marketing, have a
system in place, build a database and keep their name fresh in their
markets mind. Upon initially learning this they get excited and are
ready to go gangbusters in their processes. Then they get caught up.
They get distracted. They get blind sighted by their own lack of
discipline. So they
read yet another book, go to another seminar or hire another consultant
convinced that this time it will be different. Fact is, they will
probably be exposed to the exact same information, but this time they
may learn at a deeper level. Additionally, what may have not resonated
with them previously begins to make sense. It is as if the clouds are
lifting on their awareness. Over
the last few years I have facilitated many training sessions covering
various aspects of marketing and promotions. Often these are
complimentary and open to the public. I would see some of the same
people show up time after time for the same topic. I wondered if perhaps
I wasn’t conveying the information in an understandable format. Wanting
to find out what brought them back each time, I was pleasantly surprised
to learn that each time they attended they gained more and more valuable
information. It was as if they were watching a really good movie and
each time noticed something different. One of
the reasons learning tapes and CDs are so popular is you can listen to
them several times to glean as much information as you need. So rather
than getting frustrated that you didn’t get all the information the
first time, congratulate yourself for taking the time to enhance your
knowledge at a very deep level. On June

is More Than A Token Process “Necessity
is the mother of invention!” The first time I heard this was nearly
twenty years ago when I was introduced to Tony Robbins’ material. I
was listening to, and applying, information from his thirty day series.
I have to admit, the first time I heard this it didn’t quite register. However,
nearly two decades later, it makes all the sense in the world. In fact,
a majority of the things we take for granted were created out of a need.
When the need became great enough, someone figured out a solution. Such is
