Marketing from the Inside Out

Most marketing strategies are about being in motion. Have a plan, be proactive, and take the necessary action steps. Although being proactive is a necessary aspect of marketing, an often overlooked and yet equally important part is what is going on internally.

This simply means what is the internal dialogues and thought processes you have regarding your business, your industry and your customers/clients.

Many companies put a lot of effort into all the external aspects of what they do, yet completely overlook what is happening based on thoughts.  

Before you launch your next marketing campaign determine a few important things.

How do you feel about your product or service?

  • Do you feel the price you charge is congruent with the value your product or service brings to your customers?

  • Do you appreciate your clients?

  • Do you feel appreciated by your customers or clients?

Often, we may not be aware of hidden thoughts. Our thoughts support or hinder our success.

To find out how what you believe take this simple test. For the next 48 hours notice what comes up when you are talking about your company, your products and services and the value you bring to the table. Do your internal thoughts match your words? Do you feel good about your interactions? Do you feel the prices you charge are fair and reasonable? Do you believe you are worth what you ask? Do you feel you are the best choice for your customers?

Again, you can invest lots of money and time on external campaigns. Your true success will be determined when your thoughts and beliefs match your actions.

Becoming an Abundance Magnet

It has been said that like attracts like. Even though there are some people who believe opposites attract, a truer statement is we surround ourselves with those people we have things in common with such as our values and beliefs. Perhaps what we have in common is not identical and yet, there are strong similarities.

To achieve a higher level of abundance and accomplishment in your life, notice who you surround yourself with. Notice the habits you have and the habits of those people you share most of your time with. Do they compliment and allow you to grow into the best you can be or do they stifle, hinder and compromise your core.

It is when we are in alignment with the people we surround ourselves with we are able to fully thrive. These can be personal and professional relationships.

If, for example, you are in a work situation that does not honor your values and beliefs, although you will show up and do your work, you are not truly thriving. If there is a conflict of core beliefs you subject yourself to on a daily basis it is time to trust the universe and begin the process of finding a situation that is more aligned with your spirit.

If you are in business relationships with individuals or companies in which you feel you are compromising who you are, these relationships deteriorate your very core little by little.

In your primary personal relationships, if you and others have major conflicting beliefs and values, you may invest so much time and energy trying to change the other person you are missing out on the juice of life.

It is when we are clear on who we are, what is important, what our beliefs and values are and we honor this in our day to day activities and relationships that we are a magnet for abundance.

Book recommendation

As an avid reader I often recommend books to friends and associates. Books that leave a lasting impression. Usually my recommendations are made during a conversation or phone call. This month, I was so impressed with the works of Leslie Reynolds-Benns, PhD, I wanted to make sure I let my readers know about her latest work.

Confession Is Good for More Than the Soul is a thought provoking stroke of genius. Dr. Reynolds takes the reader into a journey of exploration into our beliefs in numerous areas. This book is not for the faint of heart. The information will definitely challenge the reader to evaluate their core beliefs and have a better understanding of where the beliefs came from.

Marketing Tip

Professional connecting is one of the most powerful ways to ferret out opportunities. What better way to get noticed than in an environment where you have a chance to talk with people in a non-threatening environment. Many an opportunity has been found on the golf course, at association meetings, through church groups, or sports events to name just a few.

The secret is to be prepared for opportunity. By being prepared that doesn’t mean you carry a stack of brochures with you and hand them out like candy. What it does mean is you never know when opportunity may come knocking so be simply be prepared.

Regardless of the situation, realize that at any time, in virtually any location you may meet someone who can directly or indirectly influence your ability to get your foot in the door with a company you would like to do business with. Be prepared and watch the magic happen.
